Hello Captains,
We had an incredibly busy weekend at CUC Central and I could barely find the time to send out another email update. Hopefully this one will catch everyone before they head to Calgary.
**Mandatory Captain's Meeting**
All captains are required to register at the Captain's Meeting on Wednesday, August 13. Come out, sign-in, get your players packs, and get oriented. The fun starts at 6pm, but we will likely be running rolling meetings at 7pm, 8pm and 9pm. Make sure you make it to at least one of these times.
We will be running a (single) bus from each hotel on Wednesday evening
(at the height of rush-hour no less) in order to shuttle everyone to
the captains meeting at Limerick's Irish Pub (7304 MacLeod Trail S).
The first bus leaves the accommodations at 17:30 and the last bus
leaves Limerick's at 22:00. You can stay longer if you want, but you'll
need to cab it home. As there will only be one bus leaving from each
location, priority will be given to team captains.
**Thursday night BBQ**
We're hosting all CUC athletes to a big BBQ at CRU on Thursday, August
14 after your tough first day of round-robin play. Protein load with
BBQ Beef on a Bun, and re-fuel your carbs with a scoop or two of pasta
salad. (Veggie option available) The dinner kicks off at 5pm and runs
until 9pm. Buses will be scheduled to take players from GAP to CRU
first so you don't miss out, then home to your hotels.
**Weather**
The forecast for this week is looking good so far, but just wait 5
minutes and anything can happen. Long-range we're looking for highs in
the upper-twenties, but that can also mean wicked afternoon
thunderstorms. Tell your teammates to be prepared for anything,
including early morning chills, thanks to our high-plains environment.
**Dogs**
There are absolutely NO DOGS allowed at the fields during CUC2008.
Please leave your best friends at home. A dog at GAP could net you a
$300 fine.
**Athlete's Village and more...**
We've updated a lot more information on the CUC website, so be sure to
check it out often. For a list of the kinds of foods you'll be likely
to see from our vendors, check out the Athlete's Village page:

That's it from me for now. If you have any questions, drop me a line, send me an email.
Talk soon,
-d
